A to Z¸ soup to nuts, all-encompassing, those are but a few phrases that capture the approach found at Home Sweet Home, a home decor and interior design firm with a retail shop in Marco Town Center. So is “one-stop shop,” a phrase Carole De Silva Piques uses to describe the business she owns with her husband, Tony Marrama.
The menu of services is indeed broad.
A range of furniture, artwork, mirrors, and clocks can be found at the couple’s retail space. Vases, kitchen items, lamps, pillows, and throws are also stocked there. So can lamps, plates and tumblers, charcuterie table paper, mats, greenery and florals. To top it off, a women’s clothing boutique is included.
Home Sweet Home has expanded over the last 12 months beyond being just a storefront retail operation. By leveraging Piques’ extensive expertise in the field, the business now offers comprehensive interior design and interior decorator services.

As Piques describes it on the business’ website, she specializes in “crafting timeless, classic, and elegant interiors with a touch of coastal charm and modern farmhouse warmth.” It’s an approach that embraces “earthy tones, classic styles, and a hint of unexpected creativity to bring out the best in every space.”
She manages all aspects of each project, creating layouts, selecting colors, wallpaper and fabrics, and sourcing furniture, artwork and other décor components, all to save clients time and effort. Home Sweet Home’s one-stop-shop approach also includes additional services.

“It all depends on what the customer is looking for,” said Piques. “We don't just do interior design work in terms of the aesthetic part. We also do full renovations, taking down walls, creating new kitchens and bathrooms, flooring, and redesigning spaces. If it's a space that cannot be redone in a way where you remove walls, then we would more or less do the flooring, the wall coverings, ceiling features, and wall features. And then we would source all the furniture, source all the home decor, do all the shopping, bring it into the home, and set it all up. And then we do the reveal with the customer.”
The construction area is Marrama’s domain. He was a home builder in their native Canada for more than four decades before retiring and moving to Marco. He’s even available for smaller tasks, such as hanging art, another of his professional skills.

Home Sweet Home also offers services for people who don’t reside in the area.
“If we physically can't get into their home, they'll do an online package which is called E-design,” explained Piques. “It involves filling out a questionnaire on the website. Then I read it over, and Tony and I figure out the person’s needs.
“Next, we create a sort of computerized floor plan. We'll do a furniture layout. We'll give them some suggestions via a concept board, which is like laying out the furniture I would choose for a particular vibe. Next, we do a 2D or 3D walkthrough for them so they can see the space and what it will look like when it's done. But they (the client) do the work. They just hire us to do the sourcing, the layouts, the mood board (a visual representation of a design concept),and the concept board (a visual presentation of style, mood, colors, and textures that we want to use in the room).”
Although not formally trained, she has years of practical experience in creating attractive interiors, having immersed herself in the craft since childhood. An osteopath and former personal trainer and massage therapist, Piques operated her first Home Sweet Home store in her hometown of Grimsby, Ontario, for two years before opening the Marco location in late 2023.
The Ontario location is now closed. Piques said that where pricing is concerned, she and Marrama don’t believe in letting the area’s affluence dictate what they charge clients.

“From what we've heard, as soon as you say, “Marco Island,” the price goes up,” she said. “Tony and I, we're trying to be real ambassadors for not letting that happen. What we can do for people, they’re just blown away at the price. There's a lot of money on Marco Island, but Tony and I are like, you know what, we're not gouging them because of where they live.”
